7 Super Fun Ways To Celebrate Halloween Month With Your Dog

My favorite holiday is upon us and I have so much fun celebrating it with my kids, but this year it’s our puppy’s first Halloween and we are so excited to celebrate with our Sadie Belle.

So, I put together some very fun ways you can celebrate Halloween with your pup:

7 Super Fun Ways To Celebrate Halloween With Your Dog!

1) Find The Perfect Halloween Costume

This is where it all starts. I love to search stores, Amazon and Chewy.com for the perfect costume. This year Sadie Belle will be an Ewok. Oh my gosh I can’t wait.

Pro Tip: Make sure they can easily see from their costume. Try it on a few times before hand and let them wear it so they get used to it. Try walking them on a leash as well. It’s important they have full mobility and are safe.

2) Get Your Pup Halloween Themed Toys

Go on a search to find fantastic, fun and very affordable dog toys for Halloween. We now have a ton and Sadie Belle loves them.

Pro Tip: Homegoods has the best affordable toys. I found these two cute toys there. You will pay almost half what you normally pay at Petco, Target or Petsmart.

3) Wear A Halloween Sweater, Pajamas, or T-Shirt

Keep the fun going all month long with fun dog apparel. I got Sadie Belle the cutest sweater this year.

Pro Tip: Again, Homegoods is the place to go. Only $10 for a sweater or other apparel compared to $17 or $19 at other big box stores.

4) Get A Halloween Bandana

Maybe your pup doesn’t like an entire costume, but they will wear a cute bandana. There are a ton of super cute bandanas for dogs on Etsy.com. I got Sadie Belle one too. She looks adorable.

Pro Tip: Make sure you measure your pet’s neck and find the appropriate size so it’s not too big or too small.

5) Enjoy Dog Friendly Halloween Activities

There are some fun events around the Triangle that you can enjoy with your pooch. Oct 19th is the Halloween Pup Crawl This should be a very fun event that benefits Cause for Paws of North Carolina. October 26th is Barktoberfest in Durham Central Park. This should be a fun event with costume contests, music, photo booth, food drive and a pet market shop with pet related items and more.

Pro Tip: Bring your pups friends along with you and share these events on social media to spread the word. There is so much fun to be had.

6) Trick Or Treat With Your Dog

This is of course the best part, but be mindful of your pet’s behavior. You want to make sure it’s safe for your pet as well as other trick or treaters.

Pro Tip: Don’t force it. If this is too scary or overwhelming for your pet don’t bring them along. Maybe they can stay home dressed in costume and greet trick or treaters at your home.

7) Take Your Dog On A Special Trip

Well, I hope you found some of my ideas fun and informative. Happy "Howloween" and have a fantastic month of October with your fur baby!
